Kogi L-PRES Embarks on Livestock Market Rehabilitation to Boost Productivity

The Kogi State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (Kogi L-PRES) has launched the process to revamp nine livestock markets across the state. This initiative seeks to strengthen the livestock value chain and enhance economic growth in Kogi State.

Speaking during the bid opening ceremony, Dr. Olufemi Bolarin, the State Project Coordinator, reassured the six competing bidders of a fair and transparent selection process. He emphasized that contractors would be chosen based on merit to ensure high-quality execution of the project.

Dr. Bolarin noted that the rehabilitated markets would provide secure, modern facilities, fostering livestock trade and supporting farmers, traders, and other stakeholders. He highlighted that the initiative is expected to increase livestock productivity, improve farmers’ incomes, and drive economic progress in the state.

Acknowledging the unwavering commitment of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, Dr. Bolarin praised the administration’s efforts to transform Kogi State’s agricultural landscape.

The event also featured remarks from the State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, represented by Permanent Secretary Engr. Abdulsalam Sagir Mohammed. He reiterated the government’s dedication to revitalizing the livestock sector and wished bidders success in the evaluation process.

Several notable officials, including representatives from the Ministry of Works, the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, and the Kogi State Bureau of Public Procurement, were present to ensure transparency and accountability.

This ambitious rehabilitation effort reflects the Kogi State Government’s proactive approach to advancing agriculture, improving livelihoods, and fostering sustainable development within the livestock industry.
