Farm Alert’s “Eggs of Hope: Project Sadaka” initiative brought a wave of hope and nutrition to the most vulnerable in the Damaturu metropolis of Yobe State. This impactful program, designed to tackle malnutrition among children, focused on delivering protein-rich eggs to those who need them most—children under the age of 10, primarily displaced from their homes due to conflict and hardship.

The team visited three significant locations: the Yetim Care Foundation (an orphanage), the Abujan Maimala IDP camp, and Mohd Gombe Farm, which doubles as an IDP camp. These visits were not just about distributing food; they were about sharing care and raising awareness about the importance of nutrition for children’s growth and development.
In total, 1,800 eggs were distributed—200 to the children at the Yetim Care Foundation and 1,600 to those in the two IDP camps. Each egg symbolized not only a source of vital nutrients but also a message of hope, resilience, and support.

The initiative garnered immense support from influential figures, amplifying its reach and impact. Among the key supporters were:
- Dr. Mohammed Goje, Executive Secretary of Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA),
- Dr. Baba Jalo, Director of Rescue at Yobe SEMA,
- Dr. Mustapha Abba Geidam (FCVSN), Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transport and Energy, Yobe State, and
- Dr. Zarah Yusuf, Executive Director of the Portrait of Lake Child Initiative.
Their presence and contributions reinforced the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing malnutrition and improving the quality of life for displaced children.

At each location, the children’s smiles were a testament to the program’s success. Through Project Sadaqat, Farm Alert continues to champion the cause of sustainable nutrition and empower communities with innovative solutions. This is more than just a project; it’s a mission to ensure every child, regardless of their circumstances, has access to the essential nutrients they need to thrive.
With the support of compassionate leaders and organizations, the Eggs of Hope initiative proves that small actions—like giving an egg—can make a monumental difference in the lives of many.
