In a strategic move to enhance livestock production and management, Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has created the Ministry of Livestock Development, appointing Mrs. Oloruntoyosi Thomas Adebayo as its pioneer commissioner.
Previously in charge of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Hon. Adebayo now leads the newly established ministry, which is expected to strengthen livestock policies, improve animal health services, and promote sustainable livestock farming across the state.
A Dedicated Ministry for Livestock Growth
The creation of this ministry signals the government’s recognition of the livestock sector’s crucial role in food security, rural livelihoods, and economic development. With Kwara’s growing population and increasing demand for animal protein, the ministry is set to focus on:
