Dr. Chudy Nduaka Appointed Head of Global Neuroscience and Eye Care Pipeline at AbbVie

Dr. Chudy Nduaka has been appointed the Head of Global Neuroscience and Eye Care Pipeline and Cross-Therapeutic Area Strategy and Execution at AbbVie Pharmaceuticals. In this new role, he will lead strategic efforts to transform patient care and expand possibilities in treating neurological and psychiatric conditions globally.

Previously, he served as the Therapeutic Area (TA) Head for Dermatology, where he contributed significantly to multiple product launches across Rheumatology, Gastroenterology, and Dermatology. With 24 years of expertise spanning pre-clinical research, Clinical Development, and Medical Affairs, Dr. Nduaka brings a wealth of experience to his latest role.

Beyond his corporate achievements, Dr. Nduaka is also widely recognized for his philanthropic impact. He is the President and Founder of the Africa Education Initiative (NEF), a U.S.-based nonprofit that has spent over 21 years empowering African students through scholarships, internships, donations of educational materials, career mentorship, and community engagement.

Through NEF, he has supported students across basic, secondary, and tertiary institutions, and has trained over 130 interns in toxicology through a long-standing internship program at the National Veterinary Research Institute (NVRI), Vom. In 2024 alone, the foundation awarded 53 scholarships to deserving students.

Dr. Nduaka also spearheaded the establishment of technology development centers in several leading African universities, including Ahmadu Bello University, University of Abuja, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Abia State University, University of Ibadan, and the United Methodist University in Liberia. Additionally, NEF donated specialized veterinary cameras to five facilities in Nigeria to improve ambulatory animal care services.

A proud alumnus of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1991, Dr. Nduaka currently resides in Connecticut, USA, and continues to be an inspiring force in both global healthcare innovation and African development.
