The Farm Alert team joins the Nigerian veterinary community in congratulating Prof. Mathew Adamu, DVM, FCVSN, KSM, President of the Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN), on his recent appointment as the Acting Vice Chancellor of Yakubu Gowon University, Abuja (formerly University of Abuja) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on 8th August 2025.

Prof. Adamu, who was only recently elected as the 12th President of the Veterinary Council of Nigeria, brings to this new role a wealth of leadership experience and a proven commitment to advancing both veterinary medicine and higher education in Nigeria. His career reflects years of service to the veterinary profession, first as a Member of the VCN, later as Vice President, and now as its President, earning him the respect of colleagues, students, and stakeholders nationwide.
