The Honourable Minister of Livestock Development, Hon. Idi Maiha, has visited key veterinary infrastructure in Adamawa State as efforts continue to strengthen animal health services and livestock resilience across the state.
The Minister’s visit on Thursday and Friday, August 27th and 28th, included the inspection and commissioning of ultramodern veterinary vaccine cold-storage facilities in Yola, Maiha and Mayo Belwa.
The cold-storage facility at the L-PRES Model Veterinary Hospital is powered by off-grid solar energy and has a capacity to store approximately 40 million doses of veterinary vaccines. The facility is designed to support the safe preservation of temperature-sensitive veterinary products and strengthen vaccine distribution across the Northeast.

The development forms part of the broader efforts of the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) to improve veterinary infrastructure and strengthen disease prevention and control in Nigeria’s livestock sector.
Meanwhile, Farm Alert and L-PRES are implementing a Public-Private Livestock Partnership Programme in Adamawa State, focused on strengthening access to veterinary services and products.
Under the partnership, Farm Alert operates the pharmacy services at the L-PRES Model Veterinary Hospital in Yola, as well as facilities in Maiha and Mayo-Belwa, supporting livestock farmers with improved access to veterinary medicines and other essential animal health products.
The Minister’s visit highlights the growing investment in veterinary infrastructure and service delivery in Adamawa, while reinforcing the importance of public-private collaboration in building a stronger and more resilient livestock health system.
Through its partnership with L-PRES, Farm Alert remains committed to improving access to quality animal health services and supporting healthier, more productive livestock communities across Nigeria.
